SAXX Underwear Co. is looking for an Vice President, Brand to join the team based at our Vancouver office. This is a 12-14 month fixed term position.

The Vice President, Brand will be…

Lead and motivate the team responsible for defining and driving a brand vision that is loved by our consumers, and distinctly SAXX. In this role you lead an integrated, cross-functional brand marketing process with the goal of increasing awareness and demand for our brand and products. Your team is responsible for driving authentic connections across all consumer touchpoints both physical and digital.

A critical component of the role is staying current on cultural trends and consumer insights to enhance brand purpose, positioning and business objectives. You will play a pivotal role in creating strong cross functional brand partnerships, build key relationships with external agencies and retail partners that drive business objectives.

This role is part of the Executive Leadership Team and will actively contribute to the overall strategic plan.

Responsibilities Include:

Brand Strategy and Execution

  • Lead continual brand evolution across all channels defining the look, feel, and voice of the SAXX brand
  • Develop, prioritize and lead the execution of brand strategies that drive awareness and revenue
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend marketing tactics to meet changing market, consumer preferences and competitive conditions
  • Collaborate with Product, Sales and eCommerce to define category and portfolio strategy that drive the long-term growth of the organization
  • Oversee the creative services team that is responsible for the creative development and delivery of all brand content
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop short and long-term strategic plans, including the preparation of annual business plans

Consumer Insights

  • Develop a deep understanding of the SAXX consumer both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Serve as the organizational expert in understanding the SAXX consumer and their needs and wants and share this knowledge across the business on an ongoing basis
  • Translate internal and external research and trends into actionable brand marketing strategies
  • In partnership with channel owners, leverage consumer data and insights to enhance consumer engagement
  • Establish metrics for the measurement of brand initiative effectiveness and relevance to consumer targets
  • Stay current with industry and competitor trends

Channel Management

  • Community – Create valuable relationships and brand partnerships that inspire our consumers and build brand awareness
  • Media Relations – Build earned media plans that results in coverage in key publications our consumers read
  • Social Media – Build social channels that create meaningful engagement and value for our consumers
  • Retail Marketing – Create branded opportunities within our retail networks that attract new customers, and drive conversion
  • Events – Create events that engage and inspire our consumers, employees and sales partners
  • Product Marketing – Position and drive key product benefit messaging through all channels that resonate and inspire our consumers

Brand Operations

  • Oversee seasonal campaign process and lead functional department go-to-market cycles, ensuring alignment with cross functional stakeholders from concept to execution
  • Assess, prioritize and manage brand department workflow according to business requirements and resource
  • Establish and execute against timelines required to support business requirements and resource effectiveness
  • Accountable for the development, monitoring and execution of the Brand department’s budget and calendar

Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the Brand and Creative team in a manner that is aligned with SAXX’s core values
  • Develop a team that is passionate, dedicated, commercially astute, world class, efficient and high achieving
  • Mentor and teach direct reports to extract meaningful insights, identify trends and build out data driven tactics to amplify campaign performance and exceed KPIs
  • Be passionately committed to ongoing learning and development for every member of the team
  • Execute at both a strategic and operational level on a daily basis
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Business Administration, Marketing, or Business Management
  • 15+ years of B2B & D2C brand management experience, including wholesale & retail and preferably in the apparel industry. Global or multi-national experience strongly preferred
  • Successful track record in leading a brand’s growth and evolution
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing effective advertising, storytelling and integrated brand programs within an omni channel environment and in collaboration with Channel Owners
  • Comprehensive, nuanced understanding of all social platforms, including emerging platforms
  • Proven ability to articulate vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates a team while focusing on achieving business goals
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes
  • Proven effectiveness managing, coaching and leading a team
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Detail oriented, with the desire and ability to oversee projects from start to finish
  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful with an insatiable intellectual curiosity
  • Strong analytical, planning and forecasting skills
  • Exceptional work ethic. Self-motivated and energetic with a high level of commitment
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Strong collaborator and team player
